                                1st Story  from Colin.

One Day in Gunner  Prewett's Army Life
While in 57 Regt I was a driver on the MT Section we had a lot of lads that lived in London and a lot of them wanted to go home nearly every night , so I used to do there duty driver for them.
It came to one weekend and one of the lads wanted to go home so I did his duty driver for him ,at that time duty driver had to be in the fire pickett hut so you had to take all your bedding and equipment with you .
I had just done the last run from Grays  station at midnight and went to the pickett hut ,I got into bed and I suddenly thought about erwigs which we had a lot  of I got out of bed and pulled it from under the shelf  as  I had experienced one dropping in my ear , I let go of the bed  it had got those legs that fold under  and it drpped on my big toe and I couldn't move my foot some of the lads ran over and lifted the bed .
The lads said are you ok Colin And I put my foot up on the bed and said look and as I rabbed my toe I had a fountain of blood  ,so they had to carry me up to medical centre , I was excused duties for two weeks  I couldn't put a boot on so not thinking I put a boot and a plimsole on an who should catch me was RSM Hillman and he was a big man he gave  me a good talking to and looked at me and said how the bloody hell did you do that I told him and he bursted out laughing and sent me back to my billet . and that was just one of my days.
I have got one or two more to tell
                          C Prewett

Will that be alright for one story  and it was true
                   till later  Colin.

                         My  Friend  Bill Robertson
Bill and I got to know each other by the program on television called  Service  Pals  Bill saw my advert asking for Gunners from  57 Regt Bill rang me and we had good talk  , Bill was in the Regiment after me but that didn't matter and although we have never met we have become great Friends .
One day he said to me I have had a Banner  made  I will send you one and  it was the  Banner  ORSETT    GUNNERS    so the name came from Bill  Robertson  and it is now on our Web Site
